Music Xray Review
Name: Music Xray
Type: Earn Money by Listening to Music Online
Short Review: You can earn some little cash for playing Music Xray but the income is close to nothing. If you like listening to music, you can try it out but the income is so small that I wouldn’t use it for that reason. If you are looking for better ways to earn money online, have a look at My #1 Recommendation for making money online. That program taught me to make a living online and nowadays I have a freedom to live wherever I want in the world.
What Is Music Xray?
Music Xray is a website where you can earn money by listening to music. There are a few similar services on the Internet. You may know Slice the Pie, for example. As you can already assume, earning potential with such websites is very small. In my opinion, it’s mainly a psychological trick to get more members.
If you are an artist or an aspiring musician, you can get feedback for your songs through Music Xray. It naturally costs something but it can be worth it if you get great feedback from listeners.
On the other hand, many members join Music Xray mainly because they hope to earn some extra cash instead of giving you the best feedback. It means that feedback for your songs can be sometimes quite monotonic: “Great song. I like it.” “Thank you for creating this song.” But of course, some members give more valuable feedback.
Next, we’ll take a closer look at the process of making money on Music Xray.
How to Make Money on Music Xray?
Let’s go through the process of making money on Music Xray step-by-step.
1.Register
Naturally, you need to register first. You can choose from 3 different account types: Music Artist, Music Fan or Music Industry Professional. If you want to earn some extra cash with Music Xray, you would choose Music Fan. Other two account names are quite self-explanatory.
Here’s a video how Music Xray advertises their opportunity for their prospects: (Notice that they are advertising Music Xray here so the video is promotional.)
You need to choose your favorite genres and bands before you will get any new offers. Then you have a chance to get their offers but you still need to wait for a while. Music Xray will send you email invitations so that you can listen to new songs. It may take a moment or two.
2.Wait for Their Emails
When the time passes you will get offers to your email for listening to new songs. Then you’ll click their link and start listening.
3.Listen to Songs and Give Feedback
You need to listen to one song at least 30 seconds before you can give feedback. They ask you a couple of questions so the artist will get some valuable insights about their song. For each song that you listen, you will earn $0,10 = 10 cents. Sounds like easy money but read further to find out if it really is.
4.Cash Out!
Music Xray has a payout minimum of $20. It means that you need to give feedback to at least 200 songs before you can get any money out of their website. You can imagine how much time it will take. You will need to check your emails regularly, listen to songs, answer their questions, etc… 200 times! Before earning your first dollars. (They will pay you through PayPal.
You can already see that the earning potential from Music Xray is very low. If you are interested in better ways to earn money online, just click the picture below. I’ll show you the way how I learned to make a living online.
Music Xray Reviews & Complaints
I have read several reviews of Music Xray. I’m always interested in hearing what other people have to say about these money-making opportunities. Here are some phrases what people said. I have added my comments below their reviews.
- “It’s fun to earn money by listening to music.”
If it really is fun, you can go for it. However, you should think it rather as a hobby that takes your resources (time) rather as a good money-making possibility.
- “The payout is so small that I’m just wasting my time.”
Many members realize that Music Xray pays only very little. Even though you could earn 10 cents for each song that you listen to, there are not enough songs available for you.
- “No songs available. I can’t earn anything!”
In Music Xray, you need to patiently wait for new songs and opportunities. They don’t offer you new songs all the time. If you could listen to their songs non-stop, you could earn almost $5 per hour. But in reality, your earnings with Music Xray are closer to $1 per hour.
- “I couldn’t listen to a song even though they sent me an offer.”
If you want to listen to Music Xray songs, you need to be checking your email regularly. Otherwise, offers are gone when faster members go and check the offers first. Checking emails all the time to look for Music Xray offers can be a huge time-waster and a distraction if you would like to concentrate on more important things.
All in all, Music Xray reviews are not very positive. Have a look, for example, in the picture below. The payout is even smaller than in online surveys and you can’t earn passive income through Music Xray.
Conclusion – Is Music Xray Legit Or a Scam?
Music Xray pays their members so it’s definitely a legitimate company. However, I am not using their services myself because the pay out is so small. There are a million more profitable ways to earn money online.
I enjoy listening to music and it would be nice to get paid for that but with Music Xray, you will only earn something very little. I’d rather divide my time like this: 1.Work to earn money and 2.Listen to music to relax. Then I will earn many times more than I would make from Music Xray and I’ll enjoy the music more as well.
With Music Xray, you need to accomplish several other tasks in addition to listening to music. Check your email regularly, click their emails, give feedback and ratings, etc.
If you are interested in earning money online, I recommend taking a look at Wealthy Affiliate. Their training has taught me and thousands of other people all around the world to earn a living online. At the moment they have already more than 850,000 members (and counting).
I know also many music-lovers who are making money through Wealthy Affiliate. One amateur musician called Alex Sol, for example, achieved a great success. He has been making +$10,000/month online with WA-training. Some people make less but that’s just an example. If you want to earn only some extra income, that’s also fine. Who wouldn’t like extra $500 per month?
What do you think about Music Xray? Have you tried similar services?
What are your favorite ways to earn money online?
Let’s discuss in the comments below! 🙂
I’ll be more than happy to reply personally to all of your questions and comments. I love hearing your thoughts.
SO as you say, music xray was not a scam? so again, I want to ask, I hope someone can answer this, someone who also experienced this in using music x ray. so my question is, after giving me a few songs to listen and to earn with, Why do they never give me songs again, actually they did but when I listened to it, there is no points counted and I don’t know why.
I think that music creators need to pay Music X Ray to get someone to listen and review their content. If music creators don’t do that, then listeners are not getting paid. At least that’s what I figured out.
So if that is the problem in their company, it is the moderators responsibility to make sure that every songs that the members listened to, they will receive the promised amount of payment. So for that, no one will think that their site is a scam.
Yes, true.
I almost fall for this one because I enjoy listening to music. I could listen to music while doing other stuff. Most of my relatives are into music so, I can definitely go for it but it’s so disappointing that I can only earn a little and waste my time. Probably, I look for another similar website that won’t waste my time and earn plenty of money.
Hi J.Keypad,
if you are looking for a website where you could earn plenty of money by listening to music, I need to disappoint you. That kind of website doesn’t exist.
There are several websites where you can make money by listening to music and I have tried them. However, the rewards are always so small that they aren’t really worth it. You must spend so much time on “technical stuff” like giving feedback that you don’t actually learn money for listening to music. You earn money by doing that technical stuff. You maximum earnings will probably be something like $3 per hour. So, better to go for websites that pay you +$30 per hour. 🙂
Hello, Brother! Another valuable information from you. You’re such a reliable person to review making money website. I had a Music Xray before but I don’t get any music to review so I decided not to actively participated about the site. It’s just wasting my time without receiving any reviews.
Hi Jogoy,
it’s a good decision that you don’t spend time on their website anymore. Their advertising, “earn money while listening to music” is a bit misleading because the earning potential is close to 0.
This is actually a really bad website even to earn few bucks because you simply can’t.
The earning potential is really low and the cash-out limit compared to their payment per song is really bad.
I wouldn’t use their website at all.
That’s true. I won’t use it either. There are better ways for A) listening to music and B) earning money online. However, I think Music Xray can be an interesting way for musicians to get some feedback for their songs.
Getting paid for listening good music is a done deal, but it will take a very long time before you can taste the sweet fruit of it.
It’s okay to use this site if you’re only after some good music but if it comes to earning a few dollars each month, this is not advisable, because of the length of time you need to spend until you can withdraw your hard earn cash.
That’s true. Even though you sign up there aren’t many songs that you can listen to earn money. That’s why you need to wait for a looooong time to earn your first money through Music Xray. Not worth it.
As far as I know, music Xray is not a scam. I have many friends who have used this site and get paid for their work. The only complain that I hear about this site it it is underpaying job.
When I came to know about a site that paid for listening to music, I very much wanted to join it. However, when I checked the site, I discovered that people from my location are not eligible to join, I had to stay away from the site.
I think it’s even good that you can’t join Music Xray because it wouldn’t be worth it anyway. They pay you so little for always checking your emails, going through songs and writing feedback. If you are a music lover, just open Spotify or YouTube to listen to your favorite music ;).
And when you want to make money online, just go to Wealthy Affiliate, start learning and earning.
You are right, it is a fun way to make money and even when I read that the pay is low it didn’t change my mind about it…until we got to the “Waiting for the songs” part. I can imagine how frustrating it is having the time to review and listen to some songs but having none of them on your e-mail. The idea was good though.
Yesh, the idea of these “get paid for listening to music” is great but the execution isn’t so interesting for those who want to earn money. However, it could an interesting way to get cheap feedback as an artist.
I’ve tried similar programs before and you’re right, they really don’t pay out all that much. So much so that I don’t think it’s really worth the time since it can just as easily be spent somewhere else that would actually pay more substantially.
However, the fact that the task is fairly easy and enjoyable makes up for it, I guess, so I think it is all fair in the end. It’s still mostly a good thing to have this as an option for someone just looking to kill time and discover some new music while doing so, as well as earning a bit of money from it.
I think programs like these are very upfront and realistic about what they offer, in that they don’t really claim you will get rich off of it, but mostly just earn a bit of side income for doing something fun. Great review!
Hi Fantasia,
I can’t really agree that it would be easy and enjoyable to make money with Music Xray.
You need to check your email tens (or probably hundreds) of times before you can earn any dollars. Then you need to listen to songs that you may not like and give feedback.
Why wouldn’t you just enjoy the music you like on YouTube or Spotify and then earn money through Wealthy Affiliate?
I love music, and money so it seems like music Xray is the best experience out so far!
Hi Ishmael,
did you read the whole article and other comments? I guess you missed out how low the potential really is with Music Xray.
Is this available in Philippines?
Hi Ismael,
I think it is. Anyway, I would rather recommend Wealthy Affiliate because you can earn there much more money than with Music Xray.
What is the music xray mean . I don’t get I don’t have idea about what is it
Hi Benz,
the idea behind Music Xray is simple:
1.You listen to music they offer.
2.You give feedback about the song.
3.They pay you a little reward.
There was another site that was similar to this which I joined but never really took part in any of the activities/offers. The money that they offered to listen to some of the songs was just not worth the effort and the fact that you had to give proper feedback to the artist meant it was just a massive waste of time.
It seems that this site has pretty similar problems, the 10 cents for each song just doesn’t seem to be worth the effort when you could be earning much more doing other jobs.
Hi Kingcool,
the other similar service is called Slice the Pie. Maybe you have tried that one?
The reward for the invested time is so small that it’s wiser to do more profitable activities like affiliate marketing.
Hello, I was not aware of the existence of music x ray until I read this article. I think is a great idea and opportunity for new music artists; however, it seems like a time-consuming website for the ones who are looking for ways to earn money online. I love this article great job.
Yeah, Music Xray can be an interesting to source to get feedback for aspiring musicians but I wouldn’t use it for making money because the reward is so low.
I have used the app before, it’s cool tho, but I think it is not worthwhile to receive an email writing that a song is available only to find out that the song is not there. This is one of the problems I have with the app.
I usually l earn $0.10 for each song I listen to and although it is not much, you can also become a fan and that means that you can support them by using your earned money by tipping the artist. And when they grow big you are on the front seat when they reach your town.
The artist will upload their song and ask MusicXray to send an email to potential fans, you might be a fan because during the registration process you gave a list of genres you like listening to.
Often the artist give their music for free because they need a fan base they can rely on, they need support and that support comes from you the listener of their music.
Hi Decypher,
yeah, Music Xray is a service also for music fans. But why would you be a fan when you can also be a player in the game of life? 😉
Nowadays I don’t want to watch sports on TV, for example, because I want to play and contribute instead of just passively watch when things are happening in the world.
-Roope
Well, I think listening to music is the best thing you can do when you’re doing almost anything, even working, it’s a very relax thing to do and sometimes it helps me concentrate more. But this is if I’m listening to music I like.
In this site I think I’ll have to listening to music maybe I don’t like, and to get paid for that I’ll have to listening the whole song, and I’d hate that, honestly I prefer listening to music for entertainment, and not for working. Excellent article Roope!
That’s a good point of view Wizkha.
On Music Xray you can choose your favorite genres but, of course, you can never know before if the songs are great or not.
I am a music lover but how do I know if I earn money for listening to music? I love to sing especially boy band group music
Hi Mark,
you can earn money with Music Xray by listening to music but the reward is so small that I don’t recommend wasting your valuable your time on this service. A much better plan is to listen to the music and then make money through Wealthy Affiliate.
Good day Sir i tried music xray almost a month now but i dint receive any music to listen to until now.
i checked my inbox everyday still no task for me.
Hi Merry,
thanks for sharing your experience. That’s the main problem with Music Xray. They don’t offer you many songs so your earnings will be extremely low. However, they take your time because you need to sign up and check the email regularly. Definitely not worth it.
I was not familiar with Music Xray until I read this post. I think that applications such as Music Xray and Slice the Pie provide a great opportunity for up and coming music artists to have their music heard. One can listen to a wide variety of music and give feedback which can be very beneficial to the musician.
When one gives feedback, one can also earn a small bit of money for taking time to listen to at least 30 seconds of a song and then answering a few questions. There is always a wide variety of music for listening to and for providing a review of.
In my opinion, Music Xray and Slice the Pie can be interesting opportunities to get feedback as a music artist. However, I wouldn’t use them to make money online. There are a million faster and more interesting ways to earn money on the Internet.
What do you think about Wealthy Affiliate, for example?
Roope thanks for reviewing Music Xray. I did not know about this service. I am going to give it a try and see how it turns out. The low earning potential is a bad thing for sure but if you do not try yourself you can’t really understand how much of your time you need to spend.
Currently i have a lot of free time and i like music so why not listening to songs and get paid a small amount of money as long as the service is free to use!
Hi Xagiate,
sure, you can try it out and see how it works in practice. It can give new ideas also. However, I don’t recommend using lots of your valuable time on services like Music Xray.
I would love to hear your experiences after you have used it more.
-Roope
I had heard of Music XRay a couple of weeks ago but I knew from the start it would be a ridiculously amount of money the one you could earn there. The only probable way I’ve heard of earning money while listening to music is transcribing its lyrics, but I haven’t tried it myself. Thanks for the review Roope!
Hi Alexander,
yeah, it’s possible to earn money online as a transcriptionist. It falls to same category as other online jobs like freelance translating, content writing, etc. You can make a living but you can’t earn passive income and make a fortune.
That’s why I prefer Wealthy Affiliate and affiliate marketing because it allows me to earn passive income. Nowadays I earn money even while I’m sleeping or chatting with my friends. That’s cool!
Please! how do I come in to start making small money online like $10 a day or less. I need favorable advice from as a new comer. The befitted my need.
Thank you

Very helpful and honest review. Most of the time these type of sites either have decent pay but low “work frequency” (i.e some survey sites fall in this category, or music xray) or unlimited available work but not enough compensation for it, like internet radios. Speaking of which, if you happen to know any good ones, an article about it would be awesome. Music is an interesting revenue method that hasn’t been exploited as much as it could’ve, IMO.
Hi Dhervas,
I think there isn’t such service that would pay enough for listening to music. I have reviewed a few of them but the payout is always so low that it’s definitely not worth it.
Why wouldn’t you use Wealthy Affiliate for making good money online and then you can listen to music afterwards if you want?
