What Is People Per Hour?

Based in the United Kingdom, Xenios Thrasyvoulou and Simon Kitiris founded People Per Hour as an online job consolidator, where employers get access to freelance workers willing to do menial jobs in exchange for payments.

Just like Fiverr, it follows a payment per project. Hence, professional freelancers do the task and get paid as soon as they satisfied the employers and get paid immediately.

How Does People Per Hour Work?

First things first. You need to get an account as a freelancer/client to get access to the freelance job index. People Per Hour consolidates all of those from the people (buyers) who want to hire someone for a temporary or short-term project.

Once the project is made and submitted, they review it and approve the task, paying the freelancer immediately.

This company follows the same procedures as Fiverr and Upwork does versus the other consolidators like Rat Race Rebellion.

Since everything that are stipulated on the platform are temporary projects, intended to accomplish within a short span of time.

In comparison to long-term projects or full-time work as SnagAJob or Glassdoor, what you see here are short-term jobs. Basically, you can’t expect full-time work here so to speak.

How to Make Money with People Per Hour?

If you opt to earn money by doing menial tasks, then People Per Hour is for you. Users will search for available and competent freelancers to finish the task.

Once you qualify to the short-term job, you can get on board and do the project and get paid as soon as you finish it. Simple.

Another option is becoming an affiliate. This company has another set of compensation plan for those who prefer working for them by generating leads directing the users to their page. They pay through their existing referral reward worth 30 GBP, equivalent to approximately USD$40.

At times, they pay higher like 32 to 35 GBP (approximately USD $42 to USD $46) per referred person. These amounts will then be redeemable once you reach the threshold of at least 50 GBP (approximately USD$65).

People Per Hour Review Options - Your Online Revenue-min

On People Per Hour, you have options to earn: as a freelancer or a buyer.

People Per Hour [UGLY] Truths Revealed!

1. No BBB Profile

The reason is simple. This company isn't based in the United States. Therefore, it's reasonable not to have it registered, accredited, and rated.

Yet, the fact it doesn't have the basic details and overall standing, you can't determine whether it's a good opportunity or not.

2. Low-Scale Gigs

You can't expect to get paid high by doing menial jobs. You have to do more jobs to compensate the monthly income you expect from the beginning.

Unlike working for a full-time online job or participating in an affiliate program, you can't go higher than that.

3. Limited Free Bids

Unlike Fiverr, you aren't expected to get a bunch of bids for the gigs listed on the platform at once. You have to purchase more bids as an option. Otherwise, People Per Hour forbids you to get access to these bids unless you pay.

4. Deductions Apply

When doing a freelance job in any platform - be it on Upwork or Fiverr - you can't have a 100% of the payment from the buyer. You have to understand People Per Hour charges you from the payment by deduction.

People Per Hour promises to make clients' funds secure on their website.

5. Bad Customer Support

This is no news at all. Almost all online job consolidators, including Mommy Jobs Online and SnagAJob, have terrible customer support.

To me, it seems these kinds of companies really don't care about the workers and buyers/employers lurking on their platform.

6. Hidden Scam Alert

One of the former employees revealed that they’re told by the management to deactivate the accounts of those freelancers who aren’t purchasing anything on People Per Hour. That could be an additional access to gigs or whatever offers they may have for them.

Deactivation could happen anytime without informing them prior to the deactivation date even if there are collected funds inside the account.

He even told the founder and CEO Xenios about it, resulting to disappointment. Without further explanations, he fired him from his job simply because he revealed the scam behind the scenes.

What I Like About People Per Hour?

1. Job Opportunities

Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with doing short-term jobs and get paid low, of course. As long as you understand that you can’t expect a high payment from these kinds of tasks at all. Otherwise, you have to search for other business opportunities, if that’s the case.

2. Free Membership

There’s no such thing as an upfront fee when you decide to join People Per Hour as a platform for short-term freelance jobs. Well, this is a great strategy to lure potential clients. A great benefit from the beginning.

However, you will receive deductions as soon as you receive the payment. Also, your account will be deactivated even if you have collected enough funds and have been actively gathering gigs on the platform unless if you purchase anything from them.

People Per Hour Review - What Others Say About The Platform?

Regardless the decency People Per Hour sounds, in the eyes of the critics, it’s an epitome of a company everyone should not be involved with.

They may provide an index of freelance opportunities and may appear true to their promise. However, underneath the shell, it isn’t the case.

First, the fact an employee revealed to the public the truth behind this platform and what they’re actually doing behind the scenes, it’s a serious concern. He sacrificed his own job for the sake of saving a lot of people, the prospective victims of the scheme.

People Per Hour Review Hidden Fees - Your Online Revenue

They wrote there are no hidden fees, yet there are after PPH receives accomplished tasks.

"We were told to deactivate clients' accounts sometime as they have funds in accounts and they don't purchase anything from PPH...unethical system and everything designed to get more money from clients/freelancers and often we block their accounts by [trapping] them," he wrote.

With that being said, he mentioned about talking with the current CEO the status as this employee wasn't happy of the company's move. Instead of hearing a positive response, he's out from his job simply because the CEO wasn't happy about revealing the case to the public eye.

Even though his review won't change a thing or two, at least, he gave his last shot before the company took everything from him.

In that way, he won't have qualms on whatever People Per Hour may face in the future as he did what he has to do, to tell the truth.

People Per Hour Review Content Image 1 - Your Online Revenue

In my previous Glassdoor review, you can’t guarantee those positive feedback are from real employees working in a company for a long period of time.

There are some instances wherein they work shortly and got sacked. So, whatever you see on the platform wouldn’t be a 100% real, especially if it’s full of positive notes about a certain company.

The fact this employee managed to publish the review about People Per Hour is something. It could ruin the company’s reputation. Yet, he still did and revealed the scam underneath the facade. It’s a brave thing to do, apparently.

Is People Per Hour A Scam?

I tried a lot of online freelance platform, including Upwork. But there’s nothing worse than People Per Hour.

Unfortunately, albeit the positive notes of the company, the existence of a strong indication of a scam changes everything. Hence, it’s possible this platform is a scam because of several reasons.

First, purchasing more gigs by force. Upwork even does that but they’re not doing it by force. It’s an option for freelancers to get through the limited bids by paying an amount. Even if you stayed on the platform without buying a thing, your account remains active like forever.

On People Per Hour, it’s not the case. An employee revealed this and it honestly surprised me because I’ve been a freelancer over the years and little did I know such thing exists.

People Per Hour Review Promise - Your Online Revenue

People Per Hour promises to deliver quality services as honestly as possible. Apparently, it's not.

The platform itself disturbed me because they intentionally limit the access for both buyers and freelancers to get them trapped and buy anything from them. It’s a considered alibi on behalf of People Per Hour, obviously.

Second, they don’t have any records on the Better Business Bureau making it simpler for them to make a lot of excuse.

That’s because they didn’t have to bother about the accreditation and the BBB rating anyway. Besides, it’s for companies based in the United States. For them, it’s a good excuse.

Third, they charge fees regardless of the size of the project. That itself was never disclosed to the public how much.

Typically, including Upwork and Fiverr charges at least 20% and reduces to 10% to the next recurring fees. It works like that.

For this platform, you have to spend 65 GBP tantamount to approximately USD$85 as the starting payment. From there, it goes high to as much as 500 GBP (approximately USD$652) plus 5% service charges.

Nonetheless, People Per Hour is considered a scam to most clients because of their strategic tactics to get more money from them without giving the best service. If you opt to join this company, don’t.
