Introduction – What is Babbletype?

That is a question that many people are beginning to ask as work from home jobs are becoming more and more lucrative. People are needing jobs that compliment busy lifesytles and hard to hire schedules.

There are also people who are looking for additional income to offset bills or be able to pay for vacations, home improvements or other wants that someone does not want to take a loan out to buy.

Babbletype is a work from home job that COULD take care of everything that we mentioned above, so let us dive into Babbletype and see if this is a work from home job that is right for you.

Babbletype is an online site that sells transcription and translation services. The site charges companies a fixed amount per word or per minute to translate in a variety of languages. It allows companies and firms to allow others to translate and transcribe for them so they can focus on other aspects of their business.

How Does BabbleWork?

Babbletype process

Babbletype employs people to work from home to meet the work needs of companies across the world. The majority of the work offered by Babbletype is general transcription, not medical transcription.

Those individuals who are accepted to work for Babbletype take the work that companies provide and transcribe and translate the work.

Companies who need transcription or translation services submit audio files to Babbletype and Babbletype in return finds individuals to convert those audio files into text documents.

The text documents are then sent back to the companies for this use. Individuals can apply to be hired by Babbletype to perform the transcription for these companies. Just because someone applies to Babbletype does not mean that they will be employed, it is NOT a guarantee of employment.

If you want to learn a PROVEN 4-step formula to make money online that I am also using myself, you can grab it here for free.

Is Babbletype Legit? – Yes, Here Is What They Offer

The company offers three kinds of jobs:

  • Transcription
  • Proofreading and
  • Translation

To perform transcription work, you listen to the audio files from the companies and convert them to text. To perform the proofreading aspect, you read over transcriptions and look for errors in them.

The translation side has individuals listen to audio given to them in other languages and convert them to English text. Translation work would need to be performed by individuals who are fluent in multiple languages.

Babbletype Pay Rates

Pay from Babbletype varies by the type of job that you do.

  • Transcription jobs vary from $.40-$.60 per audio minute.
  • Proofreading jobs vary from $.13-$.18 depending on the language.
  • Translation jobs vary from $1.30-$1.60 per audio minute depending on language and type of transcript to translate.
  • Being fluent in multiple languages will allow you to perform work that will pay more.

Regardless of how much you earn, payment is made weekly into a Paypal account. Those who work for Babbletype need to have a Paypal account in order to obtain their weekly payment. If you do not perform work in a given week, you would receive no pay for that week’s payout.

Babbletype Test & Requirements

Babbletype has a quite extensive application process that doesn’t always go quickly. Babbletype prides themselves on providing quality work to clients, so you will go through an evaluation test before being hired.

The test takes up to three hours to finish and you will then hear if you are hired. You do not get any compensation from taking these hiring tests. Not everyone is hired that applies to Babbletype, it all depends on the results of your evaluation test, so it is important to devote your time and attention to the test when you take it, as it decides if you will be hired or not.

Babbletype is best suited for someone with flexible hours looking to work from home. When given an assignment from Babbletype to complete, you have 20 hours to finish the work, so you do have an adequate amount of time to complete the tasks.

Someone who works for Babbletype must have strong language skills, keen hearing skills and the ability to review work and find errors. The work does not require training to compete, so once you pass the initial test, you are set to begin working right away.

How Much Do You Make on Babbletype?

Babbletype is a great place for someone starting out or doesn’t quite know where to start when looking for transcription or translation jobs. They do provide steady work for people to apply to and have been around for quite a while. The company is established as being able to provide work and pay consistently.

The work can be completed around your schedule, as you do have a large amount of time to complete the work that you take on.

Babbletype is great for stay at home parents who have their children’s schedules to work around or someone looking to gain some extra income and work around a busy or hectic schedule. Your pay is consistently paid into your Paypal account each week so there is no need to travel to the bank to cash a check to get payment.

babbletype reviews

Many people got frustrated when working on Babbletype because the salary was so low.

The company is not for someone looking to make good money online. They simply do not pay what someone could make doing this work independently. The work is tedious and sometimes boring, so if you cannot handle that type of work environment, this is not the job for you.

You are also taking the work available, it will not be from consistent clients that you come to know when you are in an independent setting.

If you want to learn the steps that took me from a complete beginner to making a full-time income online, just click the button below or here to learn more.

Pros of Babbletype:

In this chapter, I am going to share with you the aspects that people have liked with Babbletype. In the next chapter, we are going through the downsides.

  • The is a work-from-home job.
  • Great for stay at home parents or someone looking for additional income that they can do when they are able. You can work from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.
  • There is no minimum of work you need to complete, so you can work when you want and if you do not want to work, you do not have to.
  • The work can be done around your schedule as there are no set schedules for the work,.

Cons of Babbletype:

Here are the reasons why most people don’t enjoy working for Babbletype based on numerous reviews.

  • The pay is low compared to what an independent transcriptionist can charge and make. The work can be denied if it is not up to standards, so you could potentially put much time and effort into a project and not receive any payment.
  • Some of the audio can be hard to hear which will in turn make it hard for you to translate, which will take more of your time. The company offers little training when you are given a position.
  • There is a short video giving you instructions, but not very much training which can make it difficult for some people when they are starting out.
  • You will not earn passive income on Babbletype like you would earn on Wealthy Affiliate or other similar websites.

Is Babbletype Worth It?

If you are looking for a very little extra money each week to work when you want without needing any degree or experience, the answer is yes. The company is legit and you do get weekly pay for the jobs you complete.

Anyone can apply and be accepted by Babbletype, so it is employment that is available to anyone who can pass the initial test.

If you need a strong source of income that will pay all of your bills, Babbletype is not for you. The work Babbletype provides will not substitue for a full time job and does not provide benefits, so if you are looking for a replacement for a full time gig, this will not support that.

babbletype reviews on Glassdoor

Based on the Babbletype reviews on Glassdoor the salary is very low.

The work is tedious and there is also no guarantee week to week what work will be available, so that is important to keep in mind if you need steady income.

There are other transcription work opportunities that can provide a much more stable income to someone who is looking for a full time work from home transcription job.

While Babbletype could be a good starting point to transcription work and an easy way to gain knowledge in this field, it will not amount to full time work, regardless of how long you work with them. The pay will also not amount to full time pay, regardless of how much work you complete for them.

If you are serious about making money online as a transcriptionist, our recommendation is Transcribe Anywhere.

Transcribe anywhere is an online course that gives you training in how to set up your successful transcription business and make even a full-time income as a transcriptionist.

It will give you a certificate once you finish that you can give to potential clients to show the training you have completed. The course does allow some free modules in the beginning to give you an idea of what they industry is all about.

If you decide it is not for you, you do not need to finish the course and you are not out any money. That’s why we highly recommend that you go through at least the free training modules if you are interested in making money as a transcriptionist.

On the other hand, if you want to make big money online with affiliate marketing (which is my favorite way to make money online), I recommend that you start this step-by-step training and you will get my 1-on-1 support and guidance.

In the last chapters, I will explain you more about Transcribe Anywhere course which is our #1 recommendation for those of you who want to make a living with transcribing.

Transcribe Anywhere – #1 Resource for Aspiring Transcriptionists

The Transcribe Anywhere course was developed by Janet Shaughnessy, who owns a transcription agency herself, so she does know what is needed to make it in this market. She has been in the transcription business for over 10 years, so she has proven you can make it in this industry.

transcribe anywhere Janet Shaughnessy

Janet Shaughnessy is a creator of Transcribe Anywhere.

Completing this course will allow you to gain training and understanding of transcription work and give you a competitive advantage over someone who has not been trained. This course also offers also a comprehensive training for legal transcriptions.

The course can be completed at your own pace, on your own time schedule. You can also customize the course, so you are only completing the aspects of the course that you want to learn.

This course also teaches you how to set up your own transcription company and gain your own (high-paying) clients to start being able to transcribe independently.

Remember that you will make much more money if you find the clients directly instead of using the middleman like Babbletype, TranscribeMe or other similar sites.

How Does Transcribe Anywhere Work?

Transcribe Anywhere is not the cheapest course in the industry because they focus on the high quality and you will get also an access to the founder which is very rare. That support itself could cost hundreds of dollars if bought elsewhere.

In comparison to a college transcription course, Transcribe Anywhere cost is much lower. Completing this course also allows you to network with others who have completed and are working within the same industry. You gain valuable professional networks that could come in very handy down the road.

Transcribe Anywhere is a trusted and legitimate training program that can help you advance your transcription career and get making more money, quicker.

Anyone can take this course, regardless of educational background, so it is a great way to get real training which can result in more work at a higher pay rate.

This course is also good for someone who has been in the transcription industry for some time. While the course provides essentials to becoming trained in transcription work, it can also offer teaching in building a profitable transcription business.

transcribe anywhere courses

Transcribe Anywhere has two main training courses: General and Legal.

Gaining independent clients who come to know and trust your work will pay more. It will also provide more serious and steady work for a transcriptionist.

While someone can be great at transcribing work, if they do not have a business knowledge in this field, they will not be able to have their own successful transcription business.

Transcription work will only give you income based on the work that you put in. If you do not establish your own independent work, which this course helps you to do, you will always be working for someone else.

Then a middleman will always take percentages of your pay or limit the amount that you can make per job. You have the potential to make more money if you have more training, which this course provides to anyone who completes it.

Another Option – Make Passive Income Online

As we all know, finishing transcriptions will not make you passive income. That’s the reason why I am not so into it personally.

I prefer making money online even while I am…

  • sleeping
  • eating
  • traveling around the world
  • hanging around with friends
  • or doing anything you want

That’s why I have always been the most interested in building more passive income streams online.

  1. Maybe it’s an opportunity for beginners like me who might be able to stand a chance in the application. There’s a stiff competition with experienced transcriptionists over other sites. Although Babbletype pays little, I’m checking if it can be a training ground if you’re just starting out. However, they don’t have trainings and you will be left on your own. It will be a rough start and might as well skip this one instead.

  2. I like that this site has three different options and not just transcribing. The fact that it also has proofreading as an option for us to make money makes it a really good option. Unfortunately, the bad reviews left by the employees is a bad stain on the computer and I’m sure will push people (including me) away from the site. The fact that the pay isn’t good is just a huge turn off in my opinion.

  3. Whether it’s working on Babbletype Transcription site or any other transcription site, the most important thing that one needs to succeed in transcription business is adequate training to get better at the job especially if you cannot start up your own transcription business.

    1. Exactly. A good thing about making transcriptions is that it does not require almost any capital to get started. A laptop will be enough to get started usually. Of course, foot pedal is also recommended but even that is not 100% necessary at the beginning.

      1. It’s just like what is required to carry out other online freelancing jobs. A laptop or desktop computer, stable internet connection, good writing and listening skills are the essential things needed to pull off the job.

  4. I guess the best starting point if one really wants to succeed in the transcription business is to train and learn. In learning, nothing is wasted. And it’s good that there are also other companies that not only provide aspiring transcribers with the necessary training and skills to become successful transcriptionists, but also to be able to eventually build one’s own transcription business through direct client contact.

I love the idea of building my own transcription business as well, but first let’s learn the ropes. We have a long way to go. Thank you for your valuable inputs as always, Roope!

    1. Yeah, build an own transcription business and outsourcing the work to other people is quite an exciting idea. Imagine how many passive income streams it would create? 😉

It would also create jobs for other people which is amazing as well.

      1. Yes, building connections and helping others is always a good foundation for starting any kind of business. Transcription may mnot be appealing to some, but there is still a pretty good demand for this kind of business. Maybe in learning the pros and cons from the running transcription businesses out there in the market, a lot of things can be modified to make it more conducive, not just for potential clients but for aspiring transcriptions it’s as well. That’s why it’s great to know what people like and don’t like about this kind of business.

  5. First of all, not worth it at all. This site is offering almost nothing when it comes to earn money while working for hours. I agree with the users that gave their opinion on the site, the company is the one ho is making money big time.

I prefer passive income as Roope mentioned, it’s better and you know that you will earn something and won’t have to work hours just for $5. Some people like getting paid $5 for hours of work, but smart people make investments and do other jobs to make more money.

  6. I have never heard of babbletype. This review surprises me because I always thought transcription job is one of the highest paying jobs. I always avoid low paying jobs because how much time I spend in order to earn a certain amount is always my first priority. If I cannot earn at least $1 in one hour, I will consider it low paying job. The only exception to this rule is volume work and regular payment.

    1. As I discussed with you under another post, we have pretty different standards for good and low-paying jobs. For me low-paying jobs are anything that pay you less than $10-15/hour.

If you want to earn one dollar per hour, that is extremely easy. There are hundreds of ways to do it online. I feel that making $10 per hour is also quite easy as long as you have good Internet connection.

If you start building your own online business with the help of wealthy affiliate or another online courses, at some point we can start talking about +$50 per hour income.

  7. Great review as always. Transcription as a method of making money online is not really worth it. Many people want to do it because they think its a matter of just listening and typing, but it is much more involving and requires a lot of patience. I don’t think the pay is bad, as most transcription sites pay 17 cents per minute. Transcription work can be a waste of time. It can take you up to 20 hours to transcribe a one hour audio. Its just not worth it.

    1. I agree with you. Working for Babbletype is not worth it but I must admit that they pay a little bit better than other similar companies.

You are right that transcribing one audio hour takes a lot of time. I would not say that 20 hours easily at least 4 to 5 hours.
