But before we tackle the background as well as the pros and cons of this MLM, let me inform you that we are not affiliated with the company. Thus, we review the information without a biased judgment.
Also, be warned that most of the MLM members don’t make more money than they expected. We’ll discuss that later.
Given these warnings, I didn’t mean to scare you, my friend. However, this is the truth that we often hear from the former MLM partners.
With that being said, I encourage you to find other opportunities in which you can earn a fair share of income even without leaving your lofty home. Are you ready?
Let’s dive into it. Shall we?
Annique Review – Quick Summary
Name: Annique Health and Beauty
Founded: 1971
Type: Multi-Level Marketing Company
Price: $39.75 to $218.56 depending on the business kit + its corresponding worth of products
Best for: Annique is a popular skincare multi-level marketing company that’s based in South Africa. But it’s not feasible for international customers unless someone decides to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to establish a branch within that country. Therefore, this is a hint that you’re going nowhere with this MLM.
Summary: Back in 1968, Dr. Annique Theron, although with a medical background, stumbled a great herb that alleviated the pain of her child. She discovered the South African herb called “rooibos.” Since 1971, more skincare products have been produced as the business grew over the years.
Is Annique Recommended? No. We don’t recommend any network marketing company as there’s no potentially lucrative opportunity in that industry. So as joining Annique as one of their consultants.
What Is Annique?
In the late 1960s, Dr. Annique Theron, desperate to find solutions for her child in pain, came across the South African herb called “rooibos,” seemingly with magical effects.
Gone are the days when she had to deal with the stress due to skin allergy and other allergic reactions of her daughter, Lorinda. The frustrating days and nights are gone since the baby took the warm rooibos tea.
Consequently, Theron got the idea of helping other people by creating something that resolves the same problem. Alleviating allergic reactions through rooibos ingestion.
And Annekie Theron Ondernemings (Pty) Ltd was born, with her first product, the Annique Wonder Slim aka the Annique rooibos lifestyle Shake Formula.
Just 2 years after she established the company, she developed the first 3 skincare products.
The Annique Revitalizing Cream, one of the first 3 flagship products, remains the best-selling skincare today.
By the way, have you been wondering about this wonder herb? Me, too. So, I scoured Google search page results and found out more about rooibos and why it’s used to alleviate allergic reactions.
The South African rooibos is the main active ingredient used in all Annique products.
Rooibos is described as “a broom-like member of the plant family Fabaceae,” which only grows in the South African fynbos.
It is also known as the “red bush,” also considered as a herbal tea for most South Africans for centuries.
Today, Healthline wrote that it is one of the most beloved teas people consume since its discovery.
They ingest the herb in different ways like serving it as a warm tea or leave it as is Green Rooibus, another type of rooibos plant.
Oftentimes, people drink rooibos like black tea, adding milk and sugar to the mix. Like coffee, rooibos can act as caffeine replacements you get from iced teas, espressos, lattes, etc.
As enticing as it sounds, rooibos, unlike Annique’s claims, have harmful side effects. Healthline explained that it contains enzymes, leading to a liver problem.
Experts warned not to take rooibos, especially if you are suffering from any hormone-sensitive conditions. People with breast cancer have to stay away from taking tea as daily consumption.
Albeit its rare negative effects, more people still believe with the rooibos magic and continuously get their hands with the South African herb.
Given the situation, Annique takes this as an advantage because its products solely rely on rooibos and its effects on its users.
There seems to be a lot of positive notes for rooibos. Medical News Today emphasized that it is caffeine-free. In addition to that, it contains low in tannins.
What are tannins?
These are naturally occurring compounds that you can find in several plant foods such as black tea or red wine.
Rooibos doesn’t have that much of those compounds that keep your body at its optimal condition.
Dr. Annique Theron discovered the power of the South African rooibos and founded Annique Health and Beauty in 1971.
While this South African herb is caffeine-free, it is reported to have rich in antioxidants. Hence, once you take your hands with rooibos, you can guarantee a healthier body. Especially your liver and heart.
To those with diabetes, rooibos is also best to control blood sugar levels, lowering the risks of suffering further complications.
Aside from giving us optimal health benefits inside our body, rooibos intake also affects our skin, leading to having fewer wrinkles according to a 2010 study.
In comparison with the most common plant bases for skincare such as ginkgo, soybean and other teas, rooibos gave the best results.
Medical News Today reported that it also used to treat allergies, colic, digestive problems, insomnia, mental health issues, and poor appetite.
Rooibos seems to have a lot more benefits than I thought. At this point, Annique products look more attractive than ever. Perhaps, you might want to get your hands on their best-selling skincare products.

Who Is Annique For?
After learning the benefits, Annique products make an appeal to their target market.
Since they aren’t concentrated on creating skincare products alone, they cater to the majority of people without excluding others to try.
As I mentioned before, one of their products is Annique Wonder Slim, which is now popularly known as the Annique rooibos lifestyle Shake Formula.
This isn’t a skincare product, meaning anybody can try it as long as you follow precautions (which I also said earlier).
Given, if you choose to be one of its consultants, you could see a potential product to sell. Especially since Annique hasn’t been crossing various international lines and branching out.
If you happen to be living in one of those countries without an Annique branch, this could be a good start to market and promote the products locally.
Even without knowing what rooibos means to an international land, at least, they can try and feel the benefits this herb brings.
With that being said, this brings us to how Annique pays you, just in case you want to join the company.
Personal Sales Compensation
Take note that Annique doesn’t give rewards to personal selling, although they pay its members through Personal Sales Compensation.
Unlike other skincare multi-level marketing companies, they don’t require a minimum Personal Volume (PV) to stay in the game as a consultant. Thus, they don’t promote business growth through generated sales only. No rush.
Albeit without the rush to sell, Annique reminds its members that if they don’t feel responsible to sell more, there would also be fewer sales. And with fewer sales, the consultants receive less payout.
Wait, let’s pause and think about what Annique tries to say here. It’s tricky. I sense that.
In other words, Annique sticks to how other multi-level marketing companies implicitly pushes its members to sell more. The “push” doesn’t appear obvious, however.
They may not require a minimum threshold, causing a high competition between its members. The fact that it is a network marketing company, the only way Annique would grow is through following the same system we know.
People like you want to join the company either to get access to the products for personal use or to become consultants themselves. The same way as other multi-level marketing companies out there like Herbalife.
Believing that their products are great, they promote and promote more to generate sales.
Annique may not sound pushy, but the system exists. Your income as a consultant will remain dependent on your monthly sales within the specified period the company measures them.
The Non-Existence of Fast Start Bonus
Annique believes that everyone has to try the products and see the effects themselves. From there, they could start telling people their stories related to the products she used.
Just so you know, this method of marketing is more powerful than relying on pushing people to recruit as early as they can.
Most MLM companies call this as a “Fast Start Bonus,” which is non-existent in Annique.
One of the compensation requirements includes the personal purchase of Annique products other than the ones up for selling to customers.
This is the rule of thumb among consultants. In that way, you can be your own testimony.
As you can see in the image below, it summarizes the milestones you could achieve if you join Annique today.
Your income as Annique consultant depends on your rank.
Before you reach the top, you start as a consultant, which later can be ranked up higher to Advanced Consultant, One-Star Consultant, and beyond.
Every month, you get the following bonuses as a consultant:
- Team Building
- Group
- Generation
Career Sales Points & Personal Purchase Points
Based on the ranks, you can see below the summary of the Career Sales Points (CSP) that correspond to each rank.
Your Career Sales Points (CSP) become the basis for your compensation as an Annique consultant.
Career Sales Points are measured through the total Sales Points. If you want to avail of 20% off the invoice, you need to have at least 2,500 CSP in your account.
Below you can see the additional discounts you get based on the accumulated Personal Sales with its corresponding CSP and total earnings on Personal Sales Points (PSP).
Aside from earning personal sales compensation, you can enjoy additional discounts with your recurring personal purchase of Annique products.
By the way, for PSP earnings, all first-time kit purchases are excluded. So, if you begin your business journey with Annique, you get a 15% discount on product purchase. This is their way of saying thanks for joining the company as a new consultant.
And if ever you generated more sales even if it’s your first time with Annique, you can increase the discount to 20% + 20% off-invoice forever.
Team Building Compensation
The compensation relies on 3 levels under the same sponsor, making it as 1 team. Therefore, each sponsor has 3 levels to earn their PSP.
Through this, your team can earn around 1% to 3% bonus depending on the ranks and levels you belong to.
Group Compensation
Only those who reach the Manager level can be considered as qualified to receive the above-mentioned compensation.
Annique pays out 3% to Manager and Director levels; 4% to members of higher ranks, such as Ruby Director, Emerald Director, and Diamond Director ranks.
As you can see, not all Annique members benefit from the group compensation.
Generation Compensation
If you aren’t familiar with how this works, a network marketing company pays the team with a complete generational level. For instance, Annique requires 4 legs to complete one generational level.
Once this level is achieved, the company gives compensation to that. For both generational levels, you can earn at least 1.5% to the first-generation manager and as high as 4% to the highest ranks in both generational levels.

Before we go through the pros and cons to help you weigh your decision, let me ask you this very important question.
Are you still up for joining Annique? Are you convinced that Annique products work and can be a potentially lucrative income? If yes, let’s proceed.
Pros & Cons of Annique
As far as our research goes, both the background of Annique Health and Beauty and the use of rooibos for its products have a positive appeal to us.
On the other hand, there are also cons you have to watch out before you jump into joining this MLM and build a business around it this year.
1. Effective & Powerful Ingredient
Annique uses the rooibos plant to its products, both non- and skin care-related products. Because of the healing prominence of the plant among locals, it has shown potentially great product.
For centuries, the South Africans have been taking this as a warm tea due to its powerful properties. That alone is proof of a one-of-a-kind ingredient right there.
With that being said, you can’t help but applaud Dr. Theron for having the South African herb discovered and transformed into a lucrative business for many people.
2. Unique Business
As far as my reviews go, I haven’t encountered any multi-level marketing companies that sell rooibos plants as a base for its products. Oftentimes, I encounter HempWorx and CTFO that sell primarily hemp-based.
Surprisingly, Annique sells a unique business no matter how much we dig into various companies that could have similarities with the company.
In addition to that, they are a few of the network marketing companies that promote true wellness among its consultants and higher ranks to focus not on generating sales alone but value.
Annique has been an MLM for more than 40 years. They existed without pushing their consultants to generate sales to grow their company.
3. No Pressure to Generate Sales
In relation to my previous point, Annique doesn’t promote rush sales as there is no such thing as Fast Start Bonus as per the compensation plan, focusing only on Personal Sales, Team Building, Group, and Generation compensations.
According to one of its current consultants, Marion Green, in a 214-page document she uploaded on SlideShare, she clarified that Annique doesn’t reward personal selling right at the beginning.
That also could imply that as a consultant, you aren’t only participating in the growth of Annique as a company based on sales; but you are also entitled to experience the products you market and sell.
For a multi-level marketing company, this is already attractive to those who are currently hooked with other stressful MLMs.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money when you join Annique.
4. Cheap Business Startup Costs
Depending on the currency, you will only need to spend $39.74 (600 South African Rand) as a minimum amount for the kit. No registration fee is required.
If you want to guarantee more Annique product discounts, you can purchase products worth 3,000 South African Rand, which is approximately $218.56 depending on the currency value.
Once you opt for the second option, you will have your first 15% on the purchase followed by a 20% lifetime discount for further monthly purchases.
If you spend beyond 3,000 South African Rand worth of products, you will have an extra bonus for that as well.
1. Follows Network Marketing Business Model
As much as Annique offers an attractive offer, it follows the same system as other multi-level marketing companies, more or less.
They may not push you to generate a certain amount of sales per month, yet, your income as a consultant depends on it.
So, to ensure you make more money with Annique, you still have to go through the chase and make more sales on your account. Otherwise, they will not credit you for bonuses and other rewards.
Aside from that, you also have to make downlines to create legs and make another income stream.
As a network marketing company, the only way Annique can expand its business is by inviting more people to ensure the flow of cash for rewarding bonuses, keeping the company running.
If something blows the system up, Annique wouldn’t be able to stand since the business revolves around the model from the very beginning.
Additional Generation compensation chart that summarizes Annique payout for consultants and beyond.
2. Required Monthly Recurring Personal Purchases
If you noticed on the compensation plan, you are not only selling products but you are also required to purchase a percentage of Annique items for personal use.
Why are they pushing its members to purchase? This is where they measure the Personal Sales Compensation.
For instance, you failed to reach your quota last month. You expect to purchase a month-worth of products at your expense.
3. Non-Inclusive Compensation Among Downlines
Take a look at the compensation charts above. You will notice that there are some empty areas for lower-ranked levels. That means if Annique doesn’t recognize you if you haven’t reached them.
In other words, the company will not pay a share of the bonus unless you go higher than a consultant level. That is if you pursue to make money with Annique.

Is Annique a Scam?
As a South African-based network marketing company, we expect no records from reputable review platforms such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
And even if Annique hasn’t registered for the sake of reviews, they are still a legitimate company.
As a multi-level marketing company, they do have an attractive business offer for its potential consultants. Why?
First of all, most people search for business opportunities that ensure profit even without spending so much on startup investment. And with Annique, they only ask for $39.74 for a minimum startup cost.
If they open several branches around the world, they can also share the word about how impressive rooibos plants are.
Through their powerful main ingredient, they can also attract more customers to try and enjoy its benefits. Like other health and wellness MLMs out there such as JR Watkins, their products are organic.
Overall, Annique doesn’t appear suspicious. So, there’s nothing to worry about joining the company or not.
But as far as the income goes, you have to take the risk. Buy their products and try if it works for you or not.

Testimonial from Annique products user featured on their website
Conclusion – Is Annique Worth It?
The products are cool. There is also no doubt about how powerful the rooibos plant is. No questions.
But the way the Annique products are sold, its business model isn’t attracting more people as many of them have a negative connotation with MLM business structure.
Since Annique is a network marketing company, no matter how attractive the product is, people will have doubts to try because of the minimum products to buy before you get access to them.
And that sucks.
Why not sell these products in retail stores, right? That’d be much more convenient.
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, in comparison with other network marketing companies I reviewed so far, Annique Health and Beauty has the most attractive sales offer to make.
The business startup cost doesn’t take too much from our wallets. The next thing I want to point out is the uniqueness of the product albeit the saturated niche.
Annique products linked with the rooibos plant stand out from the crowd of health and wellness companies that exist today.
As much as the company diversified its compensation they think it is fair for its consultants, the fact that it excludes them from some of the bonuses is alarming.
Therefore, Annique remains a bit pushy to generating sales in exchange for compensation.
The race is on.
Because of that, your income still relies on how much you sold in the past month and how many people have you recruited for the same duration. It is unstable.
Yes, making money online enables you to travel around the world and an ultimate freedom but you must be willing to work for it.
